Track grades

Each discipline has its own grade hierarchy (belts, dans, kyu). Kimono stores each member's progression with date, examiner and notes.

Prerequisites

  • The discipline must exist (Admin → Disciplines).
  • Its grades must be configured (e.g. white → yellow → orange → green → blue → brown → black for Judo).
  • The member must have this discipline ticked on their profile.

Award a grade

Admin panel → Members → [member] → Grades tab.

  1. Add a grade button.
  2. Pick discipline + grade.
  3. Date awarded.
  4. Examiner (free text or one of your team users).
  5. Notes (e.g. Outstanding exam, recommended for regional camp).

A member's current grade in a discipline is always the latest dated entry.

Display

The grade is shown as a colored chip (belt or pellet depending on the discipline) in:

  • The members list (per-discipline grade column).
  • The attendance sheet.
  • The member profile on both admin and member panels.

Use case — prepare a grading ceremony

You're examining 12 kids in November for their yellow belt.

  1. Filter members: Discipline = Judo, Current grade = White, Age = 6–10.
  2. Multi-select → action Award a grade.
  3. Pick Yellow, date = exam day, examiner = you.
  4. Shared or per-person notes.
  5. Save. All 12 records are updated in one go.

Use case — fix a grade entered by mistake

On the member's grades tab, action Delete on the wrong line. The previous grade becomes current again.

Progress book (member side)

The member sees, in their panel or the mobile app:

  • Every grade earned, in chronological order.
  • The next grade to target and its associated technical program.
  • The requirements (techniques to master) for the upcoming exam.
