Check-in by barcode
On event registration, Kimono generates a PDF ticket with a unique barcode per participant. On the day, you scan tickets at the door to record attendance.
Prerequisites
- The event exists and ticketing is open (see Create a paid event).
- Participants received their ticket (auto-emailed).
How to scan
Admin panel → Events → [event] → Check-in.
Two modes:
Webcam / camera mode
Open the scanner. Allow camera access. Present the ticket barcode (phone or print). Auto recognition.
USB scanner mode
Plug a USB barcode reader (HID-keyboard mode). The scan injects the code into the focused field. Zero install.
Manual entry
Type the 8–12 char code. Useful if the barcode is damaged.
What the scanner sees
On each scan:
- ✅ OK — green, short sound, participant photo + name shown.
- ⚠️ Already scanned — orange, participant already present. First scan time recalled.
- ❌ Unknown — red, invalid ticket or wrong event.
Use case — entry to an 80-people camp
Saturday 9:45am, doors open.
- One person at check-in with a tablet or phone.
- Camera-mode scanner (fast, no extra hardware).
- Each attendee shows their ticket (often on phone).
- By 10:05am all tickets scanned, you close access.
- You see the no-shows list → nudge the latecomers.
Use case — ticketless (forgot)
Participant forgot the ticket and their phone is dead.
- Ask the name.
- On the check-in screen, action Search → type the name.
- Action Manual check-in → attendance recorded.
Post-event report
After the event, under the Registrations tab:
- Confirmed participants.
- Attendance status (present / absent).
- Check-in time.
- Check-in mode (scan / manual).
